The upper section is arranged with a compartmentalised plate rack beneath a simple hand-cut scalloped frieze, and retains clear filled hinge mortices indicating it was originally fitted with enclosing doors — a traditional feature on earlier farmhouse dressers intended to protect stored wares.<br> <br> The base is fitted with three deep drawers constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints and retaining old brass swan-neck handles. Below sits a central working recess flanked by cupboard doors with turned wooden knobs. Interior surfaces show visible hand-scraped finishing and tool marks, reinforcing the piece’s vernacular workshop origins and functional agricultural use.<br> <br> Importantly, the dresser survives with its original wide pine backboards and well-developed natural patina, the softly aged surface reflecting generations of use within a country interior.
