A fine quality English 17th-century style solid oak refectory table of outstanding quality and presence, crafted in the traditional manner with a substantial plank top and robust trestle base.
This piece embodies the timeless appeal of the classic farmhouse table, with beautifully turned legs united by a central stretcher, giving both strength and architectural character. The proportions are generous, and the construction is exceptionally solid throughout, reflecting true craftsmanship.
The thick, solid oak top is particularly striking, boasting a rich, warm tone with deep caramel-brown hues and a beautiful French polish that enhances the natural grain and patina. The surface has been well cared for and presents in excellent condition, with only light, age-appropriate character adding to its authenticity and charm.
The oak refectory table will seat up to 8 people with plenty of room (please see photos with chairs around the table). With a central stretcher, you can conveniently place kitchen chairs under the table without restrictions, unlike earlier tables with stretchers positioned on the outside of the legs, which prevent you from doing so. It is also tall enough to fit your legs underneath and wide enough to accommodate serving dishes in the center of the table. The oak refectory table disassembles into 2 sections (tabletop & frame), making it easier to lift and carry into the home.
This is a heavy, substantial table, ideal for everyday use in a kitchen or dining setting, equally suited to period interiors or more contemporary rustic spaces.
